How Animals Came to Be

By Sarah

A long time ago, there were only gods and no animals. The gods had a colossal piece of land, and yet nothing was on it except for plants. The gods thought it was a just a waste of land, so they all had a gathering to decide what to do. All of them decided that they should make living things. With many days of work, the complete product was finished. Tree god, who was named Niko, made the first animal and named it a horse. The Cloud God was so excited. He said to Niko, "Niko you are the best god, you will go down in history! And you will get highest honors in the wall of gods!"

About 300 years later, the gods made humans. Humans made the animals very happy. Their villages had food that the animals wanted, and beautiful art that the animals liked to see. The only thing that the animals didn't like was that the humans were taking their homes. The humans decided only to make a few homes so they did not take the animals homes.

The ocean was empty still because there were no animals. The gods had not yet made any animals that lived in the sea. Water God said, "I will make the first water animal. It will be called a seahorse." He thought of this name because the first land animal was a horse, so he thought it would be splendid for the first sea animal to be similar.

After this, many animals had been created and the gods were very happy! They had a great feast in honor of all the gods who helped and who and had the ideas. Perky cloud god was right: Niko did get the highest honors and he did go down in history. And that's how animals came to be.
